Types of Cholesterol Highlights

Cholesterol is not something we totally should avoid. There is a type of cholesterol that is good for our body. Here, we talk about the types of cholesterol in brief.

There are two types of cholesterol that we should know. They are the bad cholesterol or LDL (low-density lipoproteins) and the good cholesterol or HDL (high-density lipoproteins).

Most cholesterol is LDL cholesterol. We should avoid this one because this is the kind that’s most likely to clog the blood vessels. Yes, high level of LDL can keep blood from flowing through the body the way it should, which may lead to stroke, heart attack or any other health problems.

Then, about one third to one fourth of the total amount of cholesterol is HDL cholesterol. HDL cholesterol is the good cholesterol because it carries cholesterol back to the liver, where it can be processed and sent out of the body. Therefore, it is important for our body.
