Top three reasons why people skip their breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. However, recent research confirms that breakfast may be the meal which is most often neglected or skipped. There some reasons why people skip their breakfast.

The first reason is no time for breakfast. Many people think that having breakfast is another way of wasting their time. There are many other things more important to do in the morning than just eating breakfast. This opinion should be changed. How much time does it take to eat a bowl of cereal? If you are really busy in the morning, there are some tips that can be used to solve the ‘no time for breakfast’ problem. Having a simple but healthy breakfast, making toast and eat it on your way to work and making your breakfast the night before are just three of them.

‘I am not hungry’ feelings is the next reason people have for skipping breakfast. Well, that feeling is deceiving since they’ve been ‘fasting’ for eight to 12 hours the night before. However, that feeling can be a result of eating a full meal late in the evening or late snacking. So, when they go to bed, the body is still busy digesting all that food, but when they get up in the morning, the glucose level is still at its lowest point in the day. Glucose is important for the brain and central nervous system. No wonder, breakfast skippers often feel tired, restless or irritable in the morning.

Another reason that make people tend to leave their breakfast is the opinion that breakfast can make people gain weight. This opinion is completely wrong and misleading. In fact, eating breakfast will help you reach and maintain your healthy weight. When we skip a meal, our body thinks that we are in starvation mode and therefore slows down our metabolism as a means to compensate. As a result, we then tend to overeat at the next meal which is not good for weight management.
